Translations:

√ Translations are about how best to go from one language to another.

√ Every language group will struggle with the issue of translations since going from the O.T. Hebrew or the N.T. Greek into another language is a linguistic challenge.  Wycliffe Bible Translators spend their energies on that task, and reflect that in their motto . . . . .

√ Some translations are more wooden or literal (YLT – Young’s Literal Translation), and other translations seek to make it more readable for those living in 2023 or for the age group they are aimed at reaching.

√ There are many translations that are aimed at making the language of the Bible easier to understand.

√ You have probably realized that one of the aims of a Sunday School Bible teacher or pastor is to help clarify the words and wording of a text for his listeners — for adults down to children. 

√ Words matter!  Making sure that the best and right English word is used to translate a word from the O.T. Hebrew or N.T. Greek makes a difference in how we understand what is being said.

√ Some Bible “translations” are not really translations because they are primarily concerned with readability and therefore go to a modern-day paraphrase.

√ As language changes, new and different translations will continue to be created and/or revised.  Just like the King James Version (KJV) has been updated by the production of the New King James Version (NKJV), other translations into the English language have been and will be added or revised.
